TEACHING

I am a classically trained pianist who graduated from City University London with a BMus hons. music degree in 2003. During this time I also studied piano under John York at the Guildhall School of Music and Drama.

I teach piano, guitar, singing and song-writing in a friendly and relaxed style. The lessons are tailored around your needs, so whether you’re looking to take a classical grade on the piano or learn to play your favourite song on the guitar, I will structure the lesson to suit you.

Lesson Descriptions

Piano: I teach the ABRSM exam syllabus for students looking to take classical exams. I also use a variety of other tutor books for beginners and those not interested in taking exams

Guitar: I teach popular guitar with an emphasis on learning to play a wide variety of chords and also developing numerous strumming and picking techniques.

Singing: I will work with you to develop and understand your voice in more detail. Much work begins before even singing a note! Breathing exercises and body warm ups play an integral part in my lessons. I teach 'pop' and 'rock' style singing.

Where I teach: I cover Brighton, Hove, Portslade, Hangleton, Mile Oak and Kemptown.

Performance & Confidence Mentoring

My experience as a songwriter and live performer enables me to help any budding songwriter who is looking for advice about improving their songs. I have worked with many students of all ages who have struggled with nerves especially when performing. My patience and compassion will help you explore ways and techniques to develop the confidence needed to share your creative voice with a wider audience.

Cancellation Policy

I am very reasonable and understanding and will always try to give you a make up lesson for any lessons missed. If you do need to cancel your lesson please give me 24 hours notice, cancellation on the day will result in a cancellation fee (full price of your lesson).
